BaselWorld 2014: CTK 38mm Limited Edition

Hong Kong based Frenchman Adrien Choux launched The Chinese Timekeeper, a brand inspired by the ancient Chinese clock tower designer Su Song, three years ago. The shape of the case was engineered to respect an Ancient Chinese Pagoda inside the clock-tower from which bystanders could hear and see the display of time.

There were bouquets as well as some brickbats, but Adrien has stuck to his guns and is starting to make serious headway in the tough world of gaining market acceptability for a start-up watch brand. Clearly not stung by some of the criticism last time, he has turned to Watchuseek first to give news of his new limited edition collection.

Now, just in time for Baselworld, Adrien is showcasing what he hopes will be a striking new collection which certainly brings CTK into the 21st century. This new limited edition range will be numbered and features a more contemporary take on CTK watches with bold colours, diamonds and an elegant 38mm casing, but at the same time still retaining the distinctive CTK Pagoda design codes.

Adrien describes this as the watch equivalent of the little black dress. The dial is elegant with delicate touches that still complement the robust watch construction. The Chinese character 10 in red coupled with the distinctive shape of the hands retain the Chinese character of the watch.
